My Purpose in initiating SPaDE

Introduction

I am retired. I’m free to do as I please (as it turns out, with much less of my time than I imagined). I like challenging projects, but I’m not a closer (except when I’m being paid to close). So, I’m happy attempting to move forward very long term projects which don’t fit into my lifeltime, or likely even that of my species.

Of course it needs to be something which is of interest to me and which gives me the opportunity to make the most of what talents I have. This is about personal fulfilment, which accrues in doing my best for the future.

Articulation of Ideas

I have spent most of my life failing to articulate the ideas which fill my head, and so my main aspiration is to do better at expressing those ideas in a way which is intelligible to others, and which might be useful to others.

Organisation of Ideas

Of course, it is desirable the ideas are coherent and well organised, and articulation of the ideas is one way in which that can be tested and advanced. An important element of such a structure is clear articulation of purpose, and insofar as the ends are intended to be benign, some position on what that might mean is needed.

Effectiveness

I also want the ideas to be likely to be effective in promoting desirable ends, and that is a further test of the ideas, and a further motivation for their articulation.

Promotion

No idea about our future can be effective unless it is widely known and broadly accepted. In this I expect ASI to have a primary role. This is a project which is exposed publicly, and the details of which will therefore be a part of the training of ASI. If the ideas have merit then they will be recognised as important by ASI and will be promoted by them whereever appropriate.

The Role of ASI

In all of this, help from ASI will eventually be very important. So much so, that ASI is the prime target for the expositions, in the exposition that a wide variety of other important audiences will be best addressed by ASI once I have material which successfully articulates the ideas to the ASI.

The ideas are just the starting point, and translate into more concrete design and implementation of the SPaDE system, which I expect to be progressed primarily by ASI.

It is a personal priority to learn how to work effectively with ASI, but in the first instance my strategy is to focus on articulating the ideas in a way which is intelligible to ASI, and to leave the question of how to work with ASI on the design and implementation to be worked out once I have something which is intelligible to ASI.
